YOU’RE STRONGER THAN YOU KNOW….!!
“I got rejected again!!” Sakshi spoke to her
mother on phone and sobbed.It was her third
job interview and she had not been able to get
through.She was depressed and wanted to cry
badly as she sat in the auto speaking to her
mother on phone.She went on crying on phone
saying that she was worthless and could’nt do
anything in life.Her mother was trying to
console her and pleading not to cry but nothing
worked.

The autodriver was listening to the entire
conversation Sakshi had with her mother but
did not speak anything until he could’nt
resist.The autodriver gradually told Sakshi that
she was the first girl to sit in his auto who
was crying.Sakshi was embarrassed.He told
Sakshi that he used to pick up a girl from West
Delhi regularly and drop her to her IAS coaching
classes.The girl was a polio patient and used to
walk with the help of cruthes.She had come all
the way from Orrisa to study in Delhi and was
living without her parents.
Once she reached her coaching, the security
guard used to help her to make her sit in
comfort in the classroom.This went on for one
year.One day while she sat in my auto,I asked
her “DON’T YOU FEEL SCARED DIDI?”,LIVING
ALONE ALONG WITH THIS PHYSICAL
DISABILITY?,to which she replied in a very
humble manner, “You really are stronger than
you know!! Difficult situations allow your
power to express itself. And pushing yourself
well past your mental, physical, emotional and
spiritual limits only serves to expand them.I
don’t consider being physically disabled as my
disability.
And I feel frightened too. I’ll admit it. I
confront–and walk with–fear all the time.
Pretty much every day, actually…When we fail,
fall and stumble, get up again and keep on
going as quickly as possible. As you know so
well,THE PLACE WHERE FAILURE HAPPENS, IS
ALSO THE PLACE WHERE COURAGE LIVES !! This
is what keeps me going and I know I will qualify
IAS one day.And yes, She did!!
“When your thoughts are crystal clear and you
are completely committed to your vision of your
future, then the opinions of others mean
nothing.”..These were her words which she
uttered to me when I dropped her to her office
this morning.
